Who can benefit from the Diploma in Information Technology Level Program?

The rationale for the qualification is that it provides a career path for learners who wish to develop a broad base of knowledge and skills that will enable them to work in a variety of roles in the IT industry, notably in .NET programming, system administration and network security. Learners will also learn about entrepreneurship in a technology environment. The qualification is flexible in that it offers elective choices of networking, web design or e-commerce – the latter being much in demand in modern business.

The objective of the Level 5 Diploma in Information Technology is to provide learners with an excellent foundation for a career in a range of organisations. It designed to ensure that each learner becomes a confident, independent thinker with a detailed knowledge of Information Technology, and equipped with the skills to adapt rapidly to change. The qualification is ideal for those who have started, or are planning to move into, a career in private or public sector business. Qualification structure


The Level 5 Diploma in Information Technology consists of 6 mandatory units for a combined total of 120 credits, 1200 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT).

Course Requirements


For entry onto the Level 5 Diploma in Information Technology qualification, learners must possess:

  • Relevant RQF Level 4 Diploma or equivalent
  • Learner must be 18 years or older at the beginning of the course
  • Learner must be 18 years or older at the beginning of the course English requirements: If a learner is not from a majority English-speaking country must provide evidence of English language competency to OCBF.

Progressions


The Level 5 Diploma in Information Technology qualification has been developed with career progression and professional recognition in mind. Successful completion of this qualification provides learners the opportunity for a wide range of academic progressions including Level 6 Diploma in Information Technology. Once course requirements for the program have been met, a Certificate of Completion is awarded by a UK Awarding Body.
